Mark Westerby Photographer

The majority of this work has been shot over the last eighteen months. During this time, I have been Included in International magazine "Lurzers" ‘Top 200 Advertising Photographers in the World’. I have also won commendations from the International Colour Awards and Campaign's Photographic Awards.

For me, creating that one, perfect image is what drives me. I know a photograph is only the record of a fraction of a second but; it’s the lead-up to that moment that dictates the quality of the shot. Preparation is everything.

I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did making them.
I rely on Mark to bring the image I’ve got in my head to life. He’s brilliant with people, he listens, and he always brings something extra to a picture. As an art director, I need to feel in control and his inclusive way of working gives me that.
The other thing about Mark is that he’s an organiser par excellence: big productions, deranged deadlines, models who develop acne overnight… nothing phases him, although trying to stop a six foot model in killer heels and eveningwear sinking into hay bales was a challenge to say the least!
He makes complicated jobs easy to do, the results are a joy and he’s a nice guy.

A big campaign with African animals; I had no idea how we could achieve the shots we needed – Mark said he would produce the whole shoot from start to finish which completely eased my worries. 10 days later we were in a cage in the middle of Africa surrounded by rather angry looking lions. He made it so easy to produce such great shots.
